Lamentum already has a Steam page support us by adding to your wishlist!!!
In Lamentum you will guide Victor, a young aristocrat, who will embark on a desperate journey to find a cure for a rare disease.
Our last hope resides in a dark mansion governed by an earl capable of granting any wish, but… At what price?
The Grau Hill mansion will open its doors and immerse us in a world of nightmares where we can be trapped forever.
Lamentum is a pixel art survival-horror game set in New England in the mid-nineteenth century. To solve the dark secret that is hidden in the depths of the mansion of Grau Hill, you will have to immerse yourself in a nightmare world full of terrible creatures.
Choose well in whom to trust, every decision you make may alter the course of the story.
Will you survive?
Our references are videogames like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but we are also inspired by the Cthulhu mythos adapting them to our own vision.
We want to make Lamentum a dark and adult-themed game, in which the player can enjoy a classic survival-horror game.
Lamentum is a classic survival horror, and as such our protagonist will have different weapons and tools that will be of help during the course of his adventure.
Our protagonist will have a lamp to see in the dark, use lock picks to open locked doors and chests, use restorative and bandages to recover their health and will have access to other tools, such as the shovel, which will serve to advance and eliminate obstacles that is finding in its way.
To defend against the dangers that will haunt you, you will have at your disposal a large number of melee and ranged weapons.
Each weapon is different and will have unique characteristics that will make it more suitable to face the different types of threats that we will encounter throughout our adventure.
Firearms will be a great advantage because of their scope but they will consume ammunition, a good that will be scarce.
Sometimes it will be better not to fight and that is why our character can hide to go unnoticed… But be careful, not all the creatures of Lamentum will use their vision to hunt you down.
Many items may be hidden at first sight, you must use your ingenuity to find them.
To save your progress in Lamentum you can use a consumable (ink) in some desks that you will find scattered on the map.
You can play Lamentum with keyboard and mouse (in the PC version) or use a gamepad.
Our inventory will be limited and you will have to choose well which objects to carry at each moment. In certain places you can use item box to store objects in an unlimited way.
Our inventory system, apart from serving to store the objects that you want to carry during the adventure, will allow us to create shortcuts to the objects that we want to use more quickly.
This system allows us, for example, to quickly switch between a melee weapon, a ranged weapon and a potion, making combat more agile and effective.
Within the inventory system we can check the state of health and the possible states that affect our character, such as poisoned or bleeding.
In addition we can consult a diary that will record thoughts and annotations of our protagonist.
The world of Lamentum is full of nightmare creatures, each of them with different behaviours and attacks.
Each zone of the game will be protected by a custodian, a unique and powerful creature that will be a great challenge for our protagonist.
Not all dangers will be creatures, there will be traps that will reward your ingenuity or punish your mistakes with death.
During your nightmarish journey you will meet other characters and strange beings. Think about who you trust and who not… Every decision you make can have important consequences.
Although the mansion of Grau hill is the starting point of our adventure, Lamentum is divided into several areas with varied maps of exterior and interior. Each zone will be connected to the main story and our protagonist must go through them all to reach his goal.
Lamentum will have different endings depending on the decisions we have made during the game. We want Lamentum to be a replayable experience and a challenge to obtain the best possible end.
We have the collaboration of Black Light Sound, responsible for music and sound effects.
In Obscure Tales we are two people, Nico our programmer and Fran our pixel artist.
